In July 2005, our cattery at Karen's suffered a devastating blow....our lives changed in an instant.
We had plans that day to go out to a photo shoot with one of our kittens & an adult. Things were
going rather well that morning & afternoon, and we had a pleasurable time with the photographer
and crew. When we returned however, is when everything changed.
We had arrived home to fire trucks in our yard & driveway. Our home was being put out of a fire.
What went through our minds was indescribable, it was just an awful feeling that we never want
to experience again. Thankfully Karen's oldest daughter was home & was able to save many of the
cats that were in the blaze. No people were hurt, thank God.
We were very lucky to have our cousin/niece living next door, as she was able to give our cats
oxygen & checked their pulses. When we arrived we had to start flushing all their eyes because of
the smoke. The cats were traumatized....we felt so awful for our babies. Some of the cats were having
difficulty breathing, and while we were at the house, Barb rushed cats to our vet & to the emergency vets.
We were finally allowed to go into the house, and we were finding more cats, both alive & not. Two days after
the fire, we had found three 4-month old littermates safe & sound. We also found our girl Dixie, who at
the time was pregnant - she was due in 3 weeks. It was a miracle that she did not abort, and she now
has a healthy little girl. Unfortunately, we lost her 3 littermates, possible cause due to the fire.
This day will never leave our minds, and we can only pray this never happens to anyone else.
~***~
We are very, very grateful for all the love & support that the cat fancy has showed us. We will never
forget what ALL of you have done for our family. The CFA community reached out for us, the many cat clubs,
individuals, friends, family, even strangers, all pulled together. We are also especially thankful to the
Great Lakes Region 4 family, they did a great job at the shows, online, etc to help us out.
And of course many thanks to the Persian & Himalayan breeders for all their
support, you guys and gals are the best. And to Barb, Shirley, Vickie, & Jennifer for your
generous help with taking care of our kitties. We can never thank you enough for all you have done.
We would also like to say 'thank-you' to: Bottle Babies, Mimi Catworks, Castlepaws, Iams,
Revival, CatsafratsRx, American Red Cross, & Arubacat....apologies if we have missed anyone.
We are eternally grateful for EVERYTHING, no matter how big or small you have done for us, be it a
donation of food, supplies, bedding, money, or even your thoughts & prayers....it is all appreciated.
Only time has allowed us to slowly heal over our huge loss.....these cats are not just 'cats'....they are a part
of our family. We miss you all so, so very much. We will meet some day on the other side of Rainbow Bridge...

GC Mollycoddled Bojangles of Ahmischi
Blue Lynx Point Male
"Bo"
A wonderful, sweet boy & great producer. Bo was the very first cat we granded & was the foundation
for my lynx point program. We can't thank Kevin & Kris Pfister enough for allowing him to be a part
of our family, and all the support & help they gave us while we were showing him.
Bo holds so many special memories for us.
Nothing will ever compare to him. He is sorely missed...

CH Ahmischi's One Voice
Blue Lynx Point Male
"Dwight" (AKA: "Mankey")
Dwight was a large boy with incredible body. He was so, so very sweet. He had such a
cute meow, we miss hearing him talk to us.

"Boo" & "Dwight"

Ahmischi's Boo Light Special
Blue Tabby CPC Male
"Boo"
Regrettably never shown, but was planned to be. Boo was a super sweet boy, and
when he was petted he would drool on you. Yeah, we miss that.

CH Ahmischi's Dream Angel
Blue Tabby CPC Female
"Misty"
This girl was one of our absolute favorites. We miss her so much. At the time of the fire, she had
a litter of 4 darling babies that were only 14 weeks old. It was just heartbreaking when we discovered
we lost her and her babies. Misty had such an outgoing, loving personality. She could be so silly at times, and
she was a total 'toy hog'. She had teeny little mouse ears, a beautiful coat, and the sweetest face. We wanted
to take her back out to the shows to work on grand points. We miss her to pieces.

Ahmischi's Jitterbug
Seal Lynx Point Female
"Bug"
Our little angel Bug, she was just the cutest little girl. She was absolutely one of the
most fun kittens we had ever shown. She would go crazy in the rings.
She brought so much joy to our lives and we miss her terribly.

GC Marsland Star Light of Mollycoddled
Blue Point Female
"Star"
This girl was a very gentle, sweet cat. Her eye color was the most phenomenal, midnight-deep
vivid blue, just amazing. We wish we could have had a kitten to carry on those
pretty blue eyes, but unfortunately she never had kittens. We miss this girl so much.

CH Ahmischi's Man! I Feel Like A Woman
Tortoiseshell Female
"Shania"
Shania was a very pretty tortie, we enjoyed her company very much. She was always such
a happy cat, and she loved her babies. She was aptly named after Shania Twain, a favorite singer
of ours, and she would 'sing' when she saw a cute toy or a little insect or bird fly by. We had planned to bring
her back to the shows to try and finish her grand title. She was such a joy.

CH Ahmischi's Little Man
Black Male
"Alan"
This boy was Shania's littermate. He had a huge, large built body & carried a big coat.
Alan was a very nice, sweet boy and we miss him so much.

CH Ahmischi's Sand Dollar
Cream CPC Male
"Sand Dollar"
This boy was such a baby, he loved 'mom', and mom misses him an awful lot. Sand Dollar had an
incredible head. We planned to show him later on to try for grand points.
He had such a laid-back, super sweet personality & he loved belly rubs.

Karabel's Deja Blue of Ahmischi
Blue-Cream CPC Female
"Deja"
Deja was one of our first breeding girls & was retired from our breeding program. She had
very large, round eyes. We loved it when she would go zipping through the house
on one of her 'crazy time' runarounds.

Co-Bridge Kiss This of Ahmischi
Seal Lynx Point Male
"Toby"
Toby was an absolutely magnificent cat with incredible head structure. We had high expectations
for him in the show halls and was to be an outcross for our breeding program. We couldn't have possibly thanked
Debi Cotton enough for this beautiful boy, and we are just heartbroken that he is no longer with us. We are glad
he was able to touch our lives for the short time he graced us with his presence.

Blue-Cream Lynx Point Female Kitten
This little baby doll was only 4 months old when we lost her.
She had such a feisty, spunky attitude.

A litter of 4 sweet babies.
2 Seal Lynx Point Males, 1 Tortie Point, & 1 Blue Patched Tabby CPC
This was a very nice litter of 4 beautiful angels. Three of these babies had show potential....they were so sweet
and so fun to photograph. It was very hard when we discovered we lost them and their mother as well.
They were just 14 weeks old.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and
hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our
friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and
strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for
one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are
intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him
faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be
parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the
trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
